My resolutions?

People usually come with resolutions in the new year; New Year’s Resolutions. Not me. I don’t believe in things like that. That’s the same as continuously saying ‘I’ll start tomorrow’. If you want to change something about yourself, why wait for a new year?
Set it off, one of my favourite bands, says: If you crave a change, why not start today? and I think that’s beautiful.

I did, however, start the year with one actual New Year’s resolution. I don’t think anyone took me seriously when I mentioned it, but so far I have been living up to it quite well. In this blog I will tell you about four resolutions I came up with, some of them may be big, others small, but they all matter 🙂
My New Year’s Resolution
This is the biggest one on the list and I am so glad I set myself this ‘goal’. It’s simple: My resolution is to travel OR visit a concert/festival AT LEAST once a month. Easy, right? So far I am still going strong: I went to France, French Guiana & Suriname in January. To a State Champs & As It Is concert in February, to Germany in March and I have a lot more planned for the future. I am super stoked for this and can’t wait to share it all with you!
Secondly, I want to learn to drink wine. This may sound like an easy task, but I don’t know anyone that despises wine more than Harry and I. We literally can’t drink it without pulling a disgusted face and occasionally even gagging. Why I want to learn to drink wine? I am simply amazed by people saying it’s delicious and would like to be able to enjoy a glass of wine at a sunny terrace in some tropical country some day. Also, I think holding a glass of wine looks extremely ‘gezellig’ as well as classy, it just creates some sort of happy atmosphere.
I don’t know…. I’m weird.
Take the stairs. This is something that I already do a lot anyways, but now I made it into my resolution, meaning I actually have to do this more actively. So, whenever I am at a train station, metro station or anything, I will take the stairs rather than the escalator. For some reason I never take the stairs here at work, even though it’s only on the fourth floor. Nobody I work with takes the stairs though and the lift is so conveniently located that it makes you forget that stairs exist. However, I will try my best to take the stairs more often, because why wouldn’t I?

Lastly, I would like to organise my blog and all a bit better. I noticed that once I set myself goals in regard to blog posts, I found it much easier to write to achieve these goals. I came up with some set blogging days now: Tuesday & Sundays and occasional Thursdays. Furthermore, I made a list of subjects and ideas of things that I want to write about. This way I don’t have to think about ‘what am I going to write this time’ and because of the set days I feel more pressure to actually write. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy writing a lot and it’s not like this makes it feel obligatory or anything. It just helps me structure it a bit more and this way I feel like I have more free time as well, because I don’t waste time thinking of subjects to write about 🙂

These were my four resolutions, I know it’s a bit random to have a post like this in March, but I wanted to write about it and so I did. I hope you enjoyed reading this and please let me know your resolutions as well, because I am super curious & perhaps we can inspire each other!

Also: Happy St. Patrick’s Day Folks!
Have a good one,
Dagmar
